"South opening" of the cave (of the Naiads). The view is from the inside of the cave, where a part of the sky is visible. "... the other (entrance), facing the South, belongs to the gods, no man may go that way, it is the path for all the deathless powers." This is how Homer describes, in verses 13, 111-112, the opening in this cave facing the sky to the south.
