Odysseus's Ithaca : The Discovery

BACK

The peak of the Hill of Spilovouno (Homer's Nion). Until the earthquake of 1953 a village bearing the same name was located here, but has since been completely deserted. A semicircular structure is located here, constructed from stone blocks buried into the ground. Along the slope to the left a roof of one of the demolished houses is visible, as well as the Straits of Ithaca and the northern part of the present-day island of Ithaca (Homer's Same).

An overhang above one of the many caves on Spilovouno - the hill cave, as its name says. During Homer's time it was believed that the Naiads lived in the caves.
